What grains do you recommend if we want to decrease or avoid gluten?

To avoid gluten, I would go with gluten-free labeled products. Otherwise, I recommend changing to rice products such as rice pasta, rice crackers etc. You can also purchase pasta from Italy or Germany where the grains have not yet been altered. These countries do not allow genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in their food.

What about blending fruits and vegetables in a blender?

Since the fiber remains in the drink, it is a better option than just juice. It would be best if protein other than whey was added. Protein slows sugar absorption.

What do you think of the flu vaccination?

Since the flu vaccine manufacturers are notoriously inaccurate at predicting the appropriate strain of the virus most flu vaccines are ineffective. People still have a high chance of getting the flu whether they are vaccinated or not. There is also a risk of side effects from the vaccine such as Guillain-Barre Syndrome and mercury and aluminum toxicity.

Flu vaccines given to babies typically contain 25ug mercury/.5ml dose, formaldehyde, sucrose, chicken embryos, sodium phosphate, sodium chloride, gelatin, Polyethylene Glycol p-Isooctyphenyl Ether and hemaggluttinin. I do not want these chemicals in the bodies of my family or yours. The flu can be treated safely and effectively by natural means. Come in with the first signs of aches and pains, fever, runny nose, cough, or fatigue to decrease the severity and duration of the illness.

How does hyperbaric oxygen help with diabetes complications?

Diabetes patients often suffer from wounds that do not heal and/or from diabetic neuropathy with symptoms of pain and burning in the hands and feet. This is the result of poor oxygenation to these tissues mostly due to blockages. Oxygen is important in the healing process. Hyperbaric oxygen forces oxygen into the tissues under pressure and it therefore dissolves into all of the body’s fluids, including plasma, lymph, synovial or joint fluid, and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. These fluids can carry extra oxygen even to areas where circulation is poor by trickling past blockages or by seeping into the affected area. These oxygen starved tissues can then begin to heal. See our website for more information on Hyperbaric oxygen.

What can you do for osteoarthritis and herniated disk? I am currently in aquatics class and had prior physical therapy.

To start with, I would eliminate inflammatory foods such as dairy products and increase anti-inflammatory foods such as berries, since both conditions involve inflammation. Also, drink plenty of water to keep the disc hydrated. Supplements may involve glucosamine chondritin, AR Encaps by Thorne and Carlsons cod liver oil.

Will I feel tired going through a comprehensive detox?

Our program is designed to start off gently and gradually become more intense, so most people feel better as they go along with increased energy. It is rare for someone to feel tired. However, we do recommend that you take it easy during the detox program to allow your body to get the most of the process.

Dr. Brannick, What does healthy weight loss look like?

Healthy weight loss is losing about 2 pounds a week for the average overweight person. This allows the body to adjust and keep the weight off. Yoyo dieting and fast weight loss usually results in overall weight gain in the long run, and results in damage to the thyroid gland. Healthy weight loss is not about taking pills or starving oneself. It is about eating healthy and exercise. It is a lifestyle that involves viewing food in a positive light, not creating an adverse relationship with food by counting calories and viewing food as bad.

What natural products do you recommend for the medicine cabinet?

Children’s remedies for every household:

Arnica Montana 30C homeopathic remedy for falls, bumps, bruises, a pinched finger, involving some sort of trauma. Dose 3-5 pellets under tongue every 5 minutes until pain is relieved. Usually only 1 to 3 doses is needed.

High quality multivitamin and mineral to increase nutritional status if needed. I recommend the Thorne Children’s Basic Nutrients.

Cod liver oil by Carlsons Labs in liquid form. Provides essential fatty acids that today are lacking in most diets and are needed for proper central nervous system development. It also has antiviral and antibacterial qualities along with enhancement of the cell membrane resulting in cells being more fluid and resisting damage therefore allowing for optima functioning. For children, one heaping teaspoon should be daily taken with food.

Herbal cough syrup or Elderberry Syrup is needed to decrease the irritation of the throat, strengthen and support the body to overcome the irritant. See a natural physician for dosage.

Vitamin A and C are needed to support the body when ill. Usually ages under 5 require a liquid form and can be put in a small amount of juice and water for improving the taste. Care must be taken with vitamin A use and should be supervised by a physician due to toxicity when used at high dose for an extended amount of time.

Topical herbal creams are great for minor skin irritations, scratches, burns or cuts. Use as needed directly on the skin. These are not intended or recommended for internal use.

Probiotics are friendly bacteria which is needed for diarrhea or constipation.

Why do you recommend breastfeeding for a minimum of two years?

I recommend breastfeeding for two years to support the full development of an infant’s immune system and to protect the child from illness. The infant’s immune system is not fully developed until around the age of two. Prior to two years old, the child is susceptible to various illnesses and diseases. Since the infant has an inferior immune system, it is difficult to overcome illness on its own. By nursing, the child acquires the mother’s immune system, which is called “passive immunity.” With the help of mother’s milk, the child now can resist most illnesses/diseases. It is a well-known fact today that breastfed kids are healthier. Breastfeeding also allows for the child to have optimum nutrition, which supports and encourages normal development. Breast milk changes daily to meet the baby’s needs and delivers optimum protein for normal development.
